It seems surreal as I sit here on the cusp of April 1, 2021, that a mere twelve months ago we were preparing for a pandemic that we hoped would be of a short duration, putting in place precautionary protocols, and foregoing group gatherings and outings. Today, for a variety of reasons, we find ourselves taking a momentary sigh of relief as we have weathered what is hopefully the worst of the storm, found new ways of living and working, and begun to reimagine what the coming summer might hold.

At Eagle Lake Sailing Club, we are optimistic as we look forward to the beginning of our 2021 sailing season.  The calendar is getting set as we are more confident this year in hosting sailing clinics, youth sailing, annual regattas and hopefully modified versions of potlucks during the summer holidays.  We will continue to be prudent with our social gatherings, encouraging all to be respectful of ongoing precautions and each member’s personal comfort level. As with the advent of spring and summer, we are excited about returning to gather as a sailing community and welcoming members new and old who we haven’t seen for a while.

We are equally excited this year with the relaunch of our junior sailing program under the watchful eyes of new program chairs Lori Jean and Don Harty.  They and their committee have been working tirelessly over the past several months alongside our Board, to bring to ELSC a weeklong junior sailing camp as well as a weekly evening junior sailing classes over the course of the summer.  This is a great opportunity not only for member families but also for the local community to get youth engaged in the sport of sailing.  Check out our website for more information on the programs and requirements and remember to act now as spaces are filling up quickly.

We’re excited and can’t wait to get our boats in the water this season.  What will your summer look like this year?  Remember, shaded oaks, warm summer breezes, sailing on the lake, family fun, and building lasting friendships – everyone can experience it all at Eagle Lake Sailing Club.  Come check us out!
