FAQs:

Why sail at ELSC?

We are a family-focused sailing community for all ages and levels with an active events calendar throughout the year as well as fleet racing on weekends. We offer a Junior sailing program as well as sailing workshops throughout the sailing season.

How do I become a member?

Completing the application is the first step toward membership. If you’re not ready to complete an application, you can attend one of our Open House events typically held in June and get a first-hand tour of the club and meet other members.

Who do I contact if I have questions?

You can contact our Membership Chair through our general email or by sending an inquiry from our contact page. The Membership Chair will reach out to you.

How much does membership cost?

Membership dues are assessed annually and are set by the ELSC Board. For the 2024 sailing season, annual membership is $425. If you are parking a sailboat, kayak or canoe at the club during the season, an additional fee is assessed. Members have an opportunity to accumulate work credits during the year that can assist in offsetting their annual membership dues.

Do I need to own a boat in order to join?

New associate members are given a two-year period in which to secure a boat if they do not already own one in order to be considered for full membership. Some members have boats for sale periodically that you can take advantage of. Securing a fleet boat is always encouraged in order to sustain and enhance the racing fleets.

What facilities does the club have?

ELSC offers members an expansive clubhouse with bathrooms, showers, kitchen and large main room with soft seating and a fireplace. Ample parking for boats is also available as is a sail loft for storage of sails and masts for smaller boats. The lakeside deck has numerous picnic tables and chairs for use.

Do you offer sailing lessons?

Formal sailing programs are offered on an as needed basis for adult members. Our Junior sailing program is offered to youngsters and teens during the sailing season. Informal coaching occurs through many of our seasoned fleet sailors.

What level of sailor do you have to be to join?

We have all levels of sailors in the club from total beginners to fleet champions and everything in between. If you wish to race competitively, you can do so or you can relax with a leisurely sail on the lake.
